Make Poverty History and Micah coalitions have joined forces to create an amazing organisation called Campaign for Australian Aid. Their work involves highlighting the importance our foreign aid has on communities living in poverty right across the world.
The foreign aid project is something every Queenslander and Australian should be proud of; however the current federal government is planning on slashing the foreign aid budget by at least $224M. This means valuable programs that support people in poor communities to break down the barriers of inequality and injustice are at risk.
Next week, Campaign for Australian Aid is running a campaign blitz at three university campuses to highlight the importance of foreign aid and inviting activists from across the city to joined them. It doesn’t matter if you have not join a campaign like this before - there will be plenty of training available.
Details: Wednesday, May 25th 11-1pm at UQ St Lucia, QUT Gardens Point, and QUT Kelvin Grove.
If you cannot make it and foreign aid is an issue you are passionate about, Campaign for Australian Aid will be holding more events in the lead up to the Federal Election. Contact the CAA team at firstname.lastname@example.org for more details.
