We've come so far

Because of you - Queensland is a step closer to a charter of rights in Queensland.

It's great news, over the weekend the Queensland Labor Party met and voted on changes to the party's platform - this included a position to implement charter of rights for Queensland. You can see the news here.

The motion was moved by Peter Russo (MP - Sunnybank) and the motion was approved unanimously.

I wanted to share this news with you and the nearly 10,000 petition signers for human rights and for a better Queensland. We wouldn't be in this position without you, congratulations on standing up and putting human rights front and centre. The community campaign you have helped drive has made this happen. Community groups have come together to push for this change and it's great that Queensland Labor have listened.

This is an important step, but by no stretch is it the final step. There is more to do to make this a reality in Queensland.

You can find out more about this push for human rights in Queensland by downloading this brochure.

For Queenslanders to have their rights protected we need an open parliamentary inquiry and then parliamentary approval to make this happen. It will be more important than ever that people like you continue to speak up throughout the process, because the rights that we all have are too important to be paid mere lip service.

You can make the most of this moment by asking your friends to sign the petition here today.

I look forward to continuing to work with you to build on this momentum for this important change for Queenslanders.
